Abstract

"In this study, the significance of mathematical events as a factor in increasing student engagement in the educational process and stimulating their interest is examined. The urgency of this issue stems from a declining interest in mathematics among students in the humanities in secondary schools in the Republic of Armenia. The chosen mathematical activity was a quiz game centered around the number pi. Using Cherepanov's method, the students' interest index was assessed before and after the quiz game. The survey results indicate that students' interest in mathematics shifted from 'interesting' to 'very interesting' after the quiz. Additionally, the experiences of mathematics teachers in this regard were investigated and presented, confirming the positive impact of mathematical events on both increasing student involvement in the educational process and activating their interest. The article also discusses the student community's interest in mathematical activities, which was predominantly positive, with significantly more than half of the surveyed students expressing enthusiasm. Most of the training took place within the secondary school framework.
