The paper is dedicated to the mathematics teacher training system at the University of Klagenfurt, Austria. At first, the information about Klagenfurt city, the University of Klagenfurt, its mission and structure are represented. The mission of the university is defined in three main directions: research, teaching and society. Then the Institute of Didactics of Mathematics (where we were during our research stay), its mission and the main research directions are discussed. As the Austrian Competence Center for Mathematics, the Institute is also involved in national educational policy projects in a research, development, evaluation and advisory capacity. The institute jointly with the Institute of Mathematics implements the bachelor's and master's programs of mathematics teachers. These programs are also discussed in detail in this paper. At first the bachelor program of mathematics education, the form of organization, the main professional modules and the list of subjects by credits are represented in detail. Here it becomes clear that subjects related to school mathematics and its didactics receive special attention. At the end of the work, we focus on the master's program in mathematics education, the form of organization and the main professional modules with their credits are represented. We consider that this paper will be useful to educational institutions engaged in the training of mathematics teachers, organizers, as well as students who wish to continue their studies abroad.
